雅思作文 Sex Education: IELTS Writing Topic

Sex education in schools are only introducing conflicting ideas and confusing among immature minds and should be immediately stopped. Give your opinion in not less than 250 words.

Sample answer:

Sex education matters. Schools cannot afford not to continue giving orientations to boys and girls troubled by conflicting ideas. But there is another lesson to be learned about commitment rather than shame. Much of confusion about teenage sex could be avoided among immature minds if the barrier to the soluction is eleminated. How so?

The logic of the lesson is obvious. Teenage pregnancy is a problem. Birth-control is the solution. Shame is the barrier to applying the solution. Therefore, get rid of shame. Substitute it for commitment common in older generations. It is nothing less than sharing the wisdom of old-fashioned men and wives gained by keeping promises of the youth. In other words, the new sex ideology should protect teenagers from embarrassment by saying like this: If you feel ready, then, no problem.

But the big question is: really ready? Ready for what? Ready for conquest? Ready to quit studying?
Ready to be independent economically? Ready to bring a new life into the world? True enough, the new technology has taken away the worry of having children or even risking AIDS. Safe sex is good news, to be sure. However, behind that should be a true belief in the family values. Sex education is much more condoms and pills.

There is a danger of leaving sex to float around everybody´s life. Given that time has changed, the concept of free sex is harmful to immature minds. It used to be that people got married and then had sex. When the baby came, there was a place for it. That was then. And this is now when sex education should be about pre-marital sextual activities. In short, about a true commitment in the sense of good old value of love and trust. Such a commitment should be worth a ring.
